Tahini
Caution
May cause symptoms in more sensitive people. Track your own reaction.
Tahini is a sesame paste made from sesame seeds, which are classified as a 1 on the SIGHI list, representing a food with a mild risk. Although the seeds themselves do not have a high histamine content, they can act as mild histamine liberators and trigger an adverse reaction in more sensitive individuals with histamine intolerance. Increased caution is necessary primarily because tahini is a highly concentrated form of sesame, making it easy to quickly exceed one's individual tolerance threshold. In some patients, consuming this paste may cause specific gastrointestinal issues, particularly diarrhea, which is why it is recommended to introduce it into the diet very carefully, check the ingredients for any additional additives, and initially test it only in small portions.
