Method

  1. 1

    Step 1

Preheat the oven to 180 °C conventional or 170 °C fan. Grease a small baking dish, about 20 × 15 cm, with 1 tsp of the measured oil. Cut the broccoli into small florets and thinly slice the peeled stalk.

  2. 2

    Step 2

Bring 1.5 litres water to the boil with half the measured salt. Cook the broccoli for 2 minutes and lift out with a slotted spoon. Cook the pasta in the same water for 2 minutes less than the packet states, then drain.

  3. 3

    Step 3

Mix the quark with the milk, remaining 2 tsp oil, basil and the other half of the salt. It should form a thick but pourable mixture.

  4. 4

    Step 4

Put the pasta and broccoli in the baking dish, pour over the quark mixture and gently combine. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until thickened, hot in the centre and just beginning to turn golden on top.

  5. 5

    Step 5

Leave to stand for 3 minutes, divide into two portions and serve.

Author tip

Use freshly opened plain quark and milk. Slightly undercook the rice pasta before baking so it holds its shape. Choose dairy according to your tolerance and serve the finished dish freshly cooked.
