Liberator: May trigger histamine release from mast cells independently of its own histamine content. learn more

Bear's garlic is classified as grade 1 on the SIGHI list, meaning it is slightly incompatible and may cause mild symptoms in more sensitive individuals. Unlike many other herbs, it is considered a liberator, i.e. a substance that can stimulate the release of its own histamine in the body. Although it is low in histamine on its own, its role as a relaxant requires caution when consumed, especially in large quantities or in concentrated form such as pestos and pastes. Although it is an increasingly acceptable alternative to regular garlic for many people, it is important to monitor individual tolerance and prefer only fresh leaves, as inappropriate storage or industrial processing can further increase its irritant potential.
