Pepperoni

Unsuitable

This food is often poorly tolerated with histamine intolerance.

Although hot peppers themselves may not contain high amounts of histamine, they do contain capsaicin, which acts as a histamine releaser in the body. In addition, they contain other biogenic amines that employ the DAO enzyme, thereby slowing down the breakdown of histamine. Therefore, their consumption, especially in pickled form, often causes symptoms of histamine intolerance.
